I homeschool our other children (three boys), but we feel that at least for the pre-k years it might be beneficial to send Darya. When it comes to integrating her into the mainstream schools, we'll just have to see when we get there. I did join the DS Homeschooling yahoo group, but have not been active.

My husband's aunt is a special-ed teacher and she told me before that children with DS typically have a difficult time with math. I think it's great that you are working with Josie on real-life math skills!Mariannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04957874695552763609noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7609700090140862777.post-71762993445217590232011-06-10T08:23:45.781-07:002011-06-10T08:23:45.781-07:00Thank you for sharing all this! I've considered homeschooling my 3.5 y.o. with Ds, but always mentally get stuck about how to provide those therapies that he needs since he gets them for 'free' at his public PreK right now. Any input or inexpesive tips would be great! Sometimes people do not realize how important it is to read to their children - even as teens. They sort of just stop as they hit the upper elementary grades :(

I love spending time reading with my girls - so much fun :)

Maybe you can come in and do a parent workshop at one of my meetings at school - LOL!

Oh and I have a really bad at math gene. I really dislike math so much! It is where I slack the most with helping my girls. It just gives me a ginormous headache. I mean who thinks letters and numbers together make sense??Jenniferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07121297325663415742noreply@blogger.com
