OK, so I'm not allowed to call it "Sweet Sixteen" because he's a boy, but I still think he's sweet and he just turned 16 this past week so there you go!
First we had a family dinner to get the celebration week off to a good start.
Then, I wanted Allen to experience the same type of 16th birthday party that I had.
On Dec. 8, 1979, this beautiful lady, my Nana D, with the assistance of my Mom, made homemade pizza for my 16th birthday party.
When Nana died a few years ago, we found this record of how much of each ingredient she used to make the pizzas for my party...in her handwriting!
What a treasure
So now, 33yrs. later, my Mom came from PA in order to make homemade pizza for Allen's party...with the assistance of his mom and a lot of other helpers too!
Michael helped make the dough balls which are basically fried pizza dough with lots of powdered sugar on top...yummy!!!
The counter is filled with pre-baked pizza crusts waiting for the go-ahead to start the pizza baking marathon that was about to ensue.
Josi is always ready to party and couldn't wait to try the finished product.
Here is a sampling of some of the different varieties of pizza we made today.
The Penn State room is ready for the party guests too.
Hanging out, eating pizza and dough balls...not a bad way to pass an afternoon.
Taking a breather between feeding frenzies. :)
Allen, you're our firstborn and the one to start us on this crazy but wonderful path called parenting.
We are so proud of the young man you're becoming.
Happy 16th my Sweet Son!
