This doesn't happen too often down here in the sunny South and especially NOT before most of the Northeast gets their first snow of the year...
But this past Saturday we got a nice little dusting that was perfect for a little Ukrainian girl to experience her 'first' snow.
Although I know that it snows TONS where Nadia is from, I also know that this girl has never once set foot out into the glorious white stuff from above!
She knew exactly what to do, though, and started reaching up to catch her first ever snowflake.
You got it sweetie!
And there are lots more where that one came from-whoopee!!
Trying out her 'snow legs'.
She had a ball and I couldn't help but experience a bittersweet moment that she got to enjoy something so child-like, simple, and fun...but knowing that many in her orphanage will never do things like this that we take for granted for our own children.
Nadia had so much fun that when I told her it was time to come in she started signing "more please".
This Northern transplant Momma will definitely be praying for MORE SNOW this year and more child-like memories for this little one.
You always beat me with your posts. I was totally planning on getting to that first snow post, but alas it will have to wait for another day!
ReplyDeleteI do love your little Ukranian cutie playing in the snow. Can't wait to get the BFF's for a playdate in the snow - although you can host that one cuz this northern transplant can't stand that white cold wet stuff. It's supposed to be WARM in the south ALL the time :)
Oh and I LOVE the picture of Josi and Nadia in the leaves. Priceless :)
Bittersweet...that's the word.
ReplyDeleteShe is so cute and so very expressive.
Love the header photo! Sweet moment captured! Yes, let's all do the snow dance and see what happens.
ReplyDeleteLove that Nadia has love of snow in common with her "transplanted northern gal" mommy!
Lisa
I love the header photo too! What precious photos of your cupcake!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! She looks like she's seeing Disney World for the first time. I just keep praying for all the angels still in the orphanages throughout Eastern Europe and other places where the conditions are... well... you know.
ReplyDeleteOoooh, it's cold early here this year, too (north Florida). It's hard to believe that a month ago we were in our pool and now it's in the 20s at night. I wish it would snow here!
ReplyDeleteAccording to an accuweather report I heard at least 50% of the US will have snow for the Christmas holiday. You might just get your wish for more snow.
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are adorable. Cold temps here in Virginia but just a few snowflakes fell here.
:)
I am so impressed that you were ready for snow with hat, boots, gloves, etc.! Way to go!! :) She looks adorable. Oh..and I would be more than happy to give you all of our snow this year.
ReplyDeleteyou already have 8 comments....sheesh. Why do you need mine???
ReplyDeleteBut here it goes anyway.
Nadia is such a beautiful snow angel!!! All bundled up and sweet. Eating snowflakes...total innocence and sweetness. LOVE HER!
I could live with a 'dusting' of snow....just not life or death snow like we have here :)
