I got pregnant with Josi when Allen was only 9 months old so I'm not sure I was even aware of any differences in my eating preferences since I was already eating way more than usual to keep up with nursing the 9 month old. I do remember devouring an entire tray of Valentine's cookies the night before Josi's emergency C-section delivery. So, I'm thinking that sweet foods were more my forte for pregnancy #2.
When I got pregnant with Michael, I had a 2 1/2yr. old and an 18month old to keep up with so I'm thinking I probably craved whatever I had time to stuff into my mouth between changing diapers, running to therapy appointments, and answering a million questions from my unusually inquisitive and verbal preschooler. Life was a blur and was about to get even blurrier. Guess I should have written more in that darn pregnancy journal I meant to keep for each child. ha ha
So, care to guess what my craving is for this 4th "pregnancy"? Come on, if you've been reading my blog even for a short time you can make a pretty good guess at this one. If you guessed STARBUCKS then you're dead-on right!!! More specifically, a Grande White Mocha, half caf., skinny, no whip, substitute 2 pumps with sugar free vanilla, latte! Is it any wonder Jim still has to get me to write it down when he wants to "surprise" me with an early morning coffee? :) My sister, Nicole, asked if they have Starbucks in Ukraine. I googled it and found out that it's in the works but alas, there probably won't be one up and running when we get there!!! gasp!
Yes, Nadia will be known as my Starbucks Baby. So, in honor of that distinction, I bought her this adorable "Bearista Bear" when I was satisfying my daily craving (actually, it usually precedes a trip downtown to drop off or pick up another adoption form). Isn't it sweet?
I craved the Internet with all of our international adoptions. :) As in, glued to it constantly, hoping for any scrap of information. With our oldest boys, it would probably be diet Coke. :) That was before Starbucks. If we were adopting again, I think it would be a chai Latte at Starbucks with some dark chocolate thrown in now and then.
ReplyDeleteWell, when I was pregnant with Hunter, I craved Taco Bell. Anything Taco bell! I knew EVERY Taco Bell on the Eastern Seaboard. It really wasn't so much a craving as it was the only food I wouldn't throw up!!! With the rest of my pregnancies and adoptions, I simply craved sleep, peace and quiet:)
ReplyDeleteHahahaha--how in the world do you even remember what it is exactly that you have in your coffee. Geeezzz :) No wonder your hubby has to have it written down.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, with this 'pregnancy' I just eat non-stop. I am a absolute pig. Of course it's all the bad stuff--something I never really do. Ugh. Not a good thing.
Love the little bear :)
Still no word from the fearless ones. Ugh. Patience. Patience. Running out of patience.
:)
Love the Barista Bear!! I have dibs on taking Josi and Nadia for THEIR first Starbucks when they are old enough!! Write that down, Krissy!! 1st preg craving: Pizza Hut Italian dressing on salads-{funny we would both have some sort of salad craving for our firsts :)} and Lucky Charms cereal, not at the same time though--2nd preg craving: Same cravings as 1st (2nd boy) --3rd preg craving: Cookies, chocolate and yes, Lucky Charms--& my daughter is the big sweet eater!! As I journey with you thru this pregnancy of yours, I too am enjoying my Starbucks, but not at all on the level that you are :) You are getting closer and closer!! 22yrs passed btwn David's annointing and his reign as king--imagine his patience!!!
ReplyDeleteI was really sick for the first four months of each of my 5 pregnancies, but once I started to feel good, I felt GREAT. I finished all my food at every meal and whatever anyone else did not eat :). My cravings ranged from rootbeer and bubble gum to citrus fruits to mayonnaise (which I NEVER ate before). With the current paper pregnancy, I'd have to say that I am also craving caffeine...but I am trying to eat healthy. Energy and wellness are essential to making it through an international adoption process :)!!
ReplyDeleteWoW! That is quite a starbucks order!! Already, being only 12, I love starbucks! In the fall, spring and summer- tall(sometimes grande!) double chocolately chip frapp, w/ whip cream, and the chocolate stuff!!!(the saucey stuff). Winter- tall(sometimes grande!) vanilla latte w/ cream instead of coffee and whip cream! yum! I've never seen those pictures of Allen,Josi,or Michael before! They are really good! Well, I've never been pregnant (and wont be for a very very very long time) so I can't answer your last question, but, I do have a craving right now!! It's Captain Crunch cereal!!! Yummmmy!!
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures, they are all great, but Josi's is beautiful! (Guess it's the beautiful subject, huh?)
ReplyDeleteI have always and always will crave chocolate!! I'm also quite a coffee-holic, but when pregnant, I couldn't stand the taste or smell of coffee. So weird! As soon as they were out, I'd go back to my pot-a-day habit.

I craved veggies subs from Subway. I ate one almost everyday until I was 8 weeks pregnant and then threw up the rest of the 7 months!
ReplyDeleteWith my adopted daughter, I ate McDonalds in Ukraine about 5 times a week---and still lost weight!! She's my Big Mac baby.
I love Jessica's post! ummmm, my cravings with Isabella....well, I didn't just have one, I just about ate everything in site and what Vic failed to consume. I guess I just love food too much.
ReplyDeleteWhile currently experiencing pregnancy #2, been a bit sick lately, but when not so sick, I want CHEESEBURGERS or a good ol' primanti brothers sandwich from Pittsburgh.....for those of you who don't know Primantis is a 'burgh thing where one may induldge in a towering sandwich made with any meat of choice (or two fried eggs),topped with fries, slaw and dressing between two delicious slices of mancini's italian bread....mmmmmmmm
Love the Bearista bear as well. Almost picked one up myself the other day when getting our coffees.
Did I mention how much I love every photo in this post? They all seem so very familiar. What wonderful memories they bring! I hope we can do it again!
ReplyDeleteWell, in my first post, I said that Josi,Michael, and Allen's pictures were soooooooooo good, but I totally forgot about Nadia's!!!!!!!!! I'm not sure how I did, (because she is so unforgettable), but, her's was beatiful as well as the others! I'm counting down the days to either May, June, or July(not sure yet:)) ,(But Aunt K, I'm sure that you would know how many hours, if you knew when you were getting her!)
ReplyDeleteLove You- Jessica
O ya, one more thing, I love the Bearista Bear! (Even if I have no idea what Bearista means, or what a Bearista bear is, but I'll figure it out!)
ReplyDeleteOk, so this might be getting annoying Aunt K, but I'm not sure why my most recent post said from llamagirl123, because my aol screen name is llamagirl478, and well you know my name............ right??????? well, if you didn't already know, its Jessica :)
ReplyDeletei have a josi (except mine is a josie) too! i was addicted to the little orange pumkins that taste like candy corn at halloween time... pure sugar!
ReplyDeleteHey, long lost friend. It's too late to talk to you on the phone so I'm catching up with you on your blog. The pictures are amazing! I craved corn dogs with Emily (a little bit of a problem since we lived in Germany then) and Doritos with Joel. Don't remember any cravings with Laura. Hope to see you tomorrow. R
ReplyDeleteHey girlie! Just love your posts and pictures! I totally know that Starbuck's is not a craving, this is a life-long passion for you.
ReplyDeleteWith Emily I craved McDonald's shakes. Daily. And I had wonderful co-workers who aided and abetted. With Logan, it was more an aversion to "fake smells" like fake grape flavor. It made me urp everytime I smelled it. :)
I'd have to say mine is Peet's Coffee for sure :)! I wouldn't be able to make it through this process without it!
