Here is how the pound cake with icing "grilled cheese" sandwich gag turned out. I ended up having to make it for dinner because the kids were hovering around the kitchen at lunch time making it impossible to tint the icing and slice the pound cake without being noticed.
I'll let the pictures of their individual reactions do the talking. It was a yummy surprise! :)

Ok so first of all i didnt fall for it i immediatlty knew it wasnt grille cheese and the first thing out of my mouth was, "Do we have some real grilled cheese cause im really hungry," and secondly the pound cake was great but the icing was so-so only because i am DEFFINATLY NOT an icing person. but any way it was a good joke and it is sorta a tradition so its just like waiting for the shoe to drop (so to speak)(and my mom made me put shoe to drop because i couldnt thing of anything else.
ReplyDeleteoh yeah one more thing the picture with me giong like eeewwwwwwwwwwwwwww was because of the icing because like i said before im DEFFINATLY NOT an icing person. ok im done now.
ReplyDeleteI love it! In the pictures it looks like real grilled cheese! What a fun mom! The soup with it was a great touch!
ReplyDeleteWhere do you get your ideas? You could publish a book, "Fun April Fools Day Foods". It would be a hit! Happy April Fools Day to all of your family.
ReplyDeleteVery impressive! I am cracking up over Josie's expression. What a cutie-pie. Glad your gag was a success. :)
